A River Red

A River Red

A Poem by Travis Prino

Wallowing in self destruction

contemplating suicide

somewhere far she's lost forever

she'll never see the changing tide

she's given up on life too early

she didn't think she had a choice

she's caught up in her own confusion

she had to put an end to all the noise

falling away from everything

never knowing where to begin

crashing down to a bitter end

never knowing what it's like to live

what it's like to live

she's beginning to end

staring at his own reflection

conjuring his alibi

the note it reads "I'm gone forever"

his family will surely cry

he's given up on life this evening

he didn't see another way out

he closed his eyes and started drifting

he knew it was too late to turn back now

falling away from everything

never knowing where to begin

crashing down to a bitter end

never knowing what it's like to live

what it's like to live

he's beginning to end

watching as their lives are fading

down the drain a river red

they tried to stop the pain from aching

but pain is all they found instead

watching as my life is dripping

down the drain a river red

I tried to stop this constant itching

but my only escape is dead

falling away from everything

never knowing where to begin

crashing down to a bitter end

never knowing what it's like to live

what it's like to live

we're beginning to end

see yourself in someone else

to try to find the answer

but what you see is make believe

and you have no more chances.

Just a little caveat to my writing, 95% of what I write are lyrics so excuse the length and repetition and don't be deterred by that. Hope you enjoy. Feel free to comment. more..
