Hand in Hand

Hand in Hand

A Poem by Beth Shade
"

How they see us when we pass.

"

We walk down the halls,
Your hand clutched in mine.
They stare as we pass,
as if by design.
They don't feel the pain,
hidden within our eyes.
How could they even know
how much we have to hide?
Still it doesn't help the hurt,
the pain and agony.
No one even tries to ask,
to save us from misery.

"Don't let go Ali,"
I whisper as you fall.
"Don't let go Ali."
"Don't leave me here alone."

Every time you rise again,
from their hateful words.
Each hits you like a stone,
every single word.
They hiss and bite,
each assault unseen by the naked eye.

"Please don't let go Ali,"
"I need you by my side."
"Just close your eyes Ali."
"We can make it one more night."

If I were to take a guess this is a relationship frowned upon by society. We don't fall inlove at random.God eventually sends us the right person even if we went through several others. We should always be proud of whom we are and to heck with those that don't like it.I feel the anquish of your poem well presented thanks for the share God bless
