She and I

She and I

A Poem by Inertia

She and I go hand in hand,

We think similar thoughts

And smile the same smile.

We wear the same clothes

And laugh the same laugh.

We’ve even been known

To breathe the same breaths.

But she and I are very different.

Her moods are a hand clutching the chains of my life,

Letting me wander out too far

Or sometimes abruptly pulling me short of my destination.

She and I are enemies:

Enemies in the same skin,

Coexisting with one another

Purely by definition,

Because all life is,

Is learning to live with yourself.

Great write. You captured my attention the whole way through. Awesome job! :D

stunningly profound~ how unexpected each twist and turn of the poem grabs at the reader and turns them this way and that~ keeping me on my mental toes so to speak and then the strike with those last two lines~ oh my how true~ what a truly clever presentation of a mirror at first veiled and then abruptly exposed~

I really love the way you use words to create this flow. It's a very hard skill but makes writing so much better. I love this poem very much, but it seems that it might be about someone I know. :)

Nice write, Life is what it is for a reason
a reason we may never know. Not just
learning to live with ourselves which is
important but others that surround us.

Whoa! Nicely done. I was interested throughout. You got my curiosity going a little with this one. Multiple personalities perhaps?
