In Loving Memory

In Loving Memory

A Poem by Whitney
"

Dedicated to someone I miss and love with all my heart. Picture to go with it. http://fc05.deviantart.com/fs51/i/2009/275/e/d/In_Loving_Memory__Amanda_Brown_by_AcidCryst.jpg

"

Every morning when I wake
Your face is in my head
I'll never forget the night
You were taken from your bed

I thought you could be found
We tried and tried and tried
But a long 12 years have passed
You can't imagine how I've cried

So young and unaware
You went through so much pain
I hope he burns in hell because..
With your blood his hands are stained

The thing that keeps me going
Though my eyes are never dry
Is knowing you are safe
Waiting for me up in the sky

So as I write my last few lines
I ask you on my knees
Keep me in your heart and..
Don't pass the gates without me

Author's Note

Whitney
Amanda Victoria Brown born March 13, 1991, pure of heart, innocent in mind entered onto this earth bringing joy to everyone she touched. With sparkling eyes and angelic smile-truly a face of innocence-Amanda was enjoying life, chasing butterflies and doing all those things that a seven year old enjoys. On September 11, 1998, her innocence was stolen: her promise of a future came to a chilling end. A convicted criminal, Willie Crain, with a repulsive past of sex crimes against children, stole Amanda from a peaceful sleep and to this day she has never been found.
The details of what happened to Amanda are too gruesome to share, however, what happened to her should never happen to any child ever again

I read your poem and wanted to write something, but I find myself sitting at my computer looking for words. The truth is there really are no words for such a terrible heartless crime. What I will say is that your poem struck a cord in me and I'm left wondering about this precious little girl. I like the way you ended it:

So as I write my last few lines
I ask you on my knees
Keep me in your heart and..
Don't pass the gates without me

It shows the reader that you two will meet again. Great job thanks for sharing.
