A Poem by eli mercuree rue

Bam

        Bam

                Bam

Twenty seconds into creation

And our frames were

Systematically paralyzed

Mun.key[s] sat themselves

Up side Down and proceeded

To munch on Ban.and.A’s

While golden fish floated

Casually in their bulbs

Wondering: “How come evolution

Forsake us to this little bowl

Full of our own crap? Oh look a

White castle. Must we filter

Feeeeed for the rest of eternity? Oh

Look a white castle.”

Cue the trumpets; this victory

March must be our grand finale

Since we are all about finalizing

With finesse and letting our

Maledictions and imprecations

Blow off into the us surrounding

Like dust on our hands

You know, they

[the men in the green suits]

Say we are soooo full of grace that

We oughta carry ourselves like the

Disgraced tomb of

Omega Wah Ha Hu

Who? Yeah no one knows her

Anymore cause she was stiffly fingering

The air when all the hoopla

Of “create me create me” was going on

Like the petulant priest she was

And we are for being in her likeness

Not giving a damn about

“yes, no [or] who done it”

But really

Just shoot me

give us that rush

[us as in all of us my cells and

their cells and the cells we create]

Of the big bang when

My existence was that

Of coexistence

And normal was simple

Metaphysical collision after collision

Suspended above an ending that

Sees no end because the

Provisions of life are well contained

In the circular loop of humanity.

This is a very clever poem. It starts with a big bang opening that grabs one's attention and I really enjoyed your description of the fish.

Great.

Just a little greedy but I would like to see a sequal to this in way. Something along the lines of an itilgent race looking at us or either us looking back a thousand years from now and see how primal we all are.

this is both fun and amazing

loving how you introduce us
to evolution
through monkeys
and absent-minded goldfish

i really feel for them

like in public pools
with hair and plasters
floating around

DO NOT SWALLOW

sickage
but at least we can get out
coughing and splurting
indignity

that's what we get
for venturing into
ungranted territory

SHARKS
and pubes

every conversation i've ever had about evolution
has left me confused
and frustrated with our species
mostly for s**t that's not our fault
so i sense some of this will be over my head for weeks to come
but f**k it
i'll keep at it
because i like it

loving also
the stanza about the aliens
and the
(I think fictional?
or did google
let me down again?
haha)
priest lady

"Just shoot me
give us that rush
[us as in all of us my cells and
their cells and the cells we create]
Of the big bang"

loving all of it really

yo
you keep on rutting
with my awe
and admiration
forget playstation thumb
this is thumbsupitis
and you're too far away
for me to be anything
but shapes on a screen
and it's all just as well really
because you'd run
and hide with the monkeys
from ugly me
yo
inconsistent rhyme scheme
(not you, me)

yo
great poem
