Homecoming

Homecoming

A Poem by Udeme
"

Absence makes the heart stronger...keeps a flame burning and..

"
                                Homecoming

the Canary gave a dull hum,
the candle spat out of boredom,
my eardrums tingled from every sound the
                    highway gave.
Our field -clothed with Vests of Verdure awaits you
                 the Moon misses our presence,
                 and our lovemaking too.

"Bring him safely", I whispered to the Wind,
"bring him safely", the Canary mocked in return.
The Wind flew with our words,
the Trees danced, the Moon grinned,
the candlelight glowed with renewed hope..
                      of a new World.

Tap, tap...came the sound of footsteps,
my heart leaped. Is that him?
I looked up and met those dreamy eyes while
                   his embrace swallowed me!
