Pandora's Embrace

Pandora's Embrace

A Poem by UlyssesS

I get those shocks of terror sometimes
That my mind slipped through my fingers
Through clenched wired fingers i let it seep away
Tin man hammered hollow
Pulled myself apart
heaving empty on some hilltop
The ground beneath me rusting away
Looking through some vacuous glaze in burnt pilot lights
Casting light on a gurgled and choked existence
And then slip out of my haze
Look down and see
It's still writhing and struggling
I feel the fire in my soul
Whipping and scarring the bones
while both dread and anger rage
boundless and in no direction
It's still here with me
While my body aches for release
But it's still here in me
I can thank God only for that
