Husks in Array

Husks in Array

A Poem by UlyssesS

He let out a laugh, unexplained to most
He laughed because surely it was a mockery
He laughed because they must be mocking him and themselves
He laughed because there was no other explanation
Laughed because they must be puppets without strings

For when every single man and woman left
Has seemingly has lost faith;
Faith in their ideals, their beliefs, their morals
Seemingly lost faith in themselves
But they're marching on
Like broken toy soliders
Marching in trivial directions without winding up

So it must be a sick, cruel punishment
A crumbling, parched joke
For without conviction and purpose in their actions
Man is stripped and fashioned into a toy for others
Inhuman trash lurching about

So he waits and laughs
For surely
This is a dream, like so much else
