1 Samuel 7:3-10

1 Samuel 7:3-10

A Poem by Ed

1 Samuel 7: 3-10
Back in the day of the original true Hebrew nation, Israel.
People knew very well who God was. Knew that life wasn’t a game and that generally people understood what life was.
Many had been swayed by seducing spirits, and had come to acknowledge foreign “gods” due to the mysticism and pleasures that they would offer, but what they would ask in exchange was not anything attributable to life.
Samuel had told the people of Israel to get rid of the idols that were demonic entities placed before the people of Israel by the Philistines in an attempt to have them be an offering for their “gods”. Once people have acknowledged that they did not want to worship demons, they had made a proper return to God and plead for forgiveness, for having strayed away from who they knew well to be He who gives life.
The reason for the offering of a small calf lamb being that when these animals were offered to God, it was no frivolous matter and was usually a way to sway off the evil spirits of other nations who practiced human sacrifice.
Because of this corruption it was a way to purify the people, not to say it was right but because of the condition of the world in a fallen state, it was a better way to resolve these spiritual matters and keep the depravity of the land at bay from the people of Israel, who were an upright people in comparison to those of the other nations in the land who would otherwise take up residency in their’s only to defile it purposely.
New King James Version
“Therefore I say to you, the kingdom of God will be taken from you and given to a nation bearing the fruits of it.
Matthew 21:43
3Then Samuel said to all the house of Israel, “If you are returning to the Lord with all your hearts, then rid yourselves of the foreign gods and Ashtoreths among you, prepare your hearts for the Lord, and serve Him only. And He will deliver you from the hand of the Philistines.”
4So the Israelites put away the Baals and Ashtoreths and served only the Lord.
5Then Samuel said, “Gather all Israel to Mizpah, and I will pray to the Lord on your behalf.”
6When they had gathered at Mizpah, they drew water and poured it out before the Lord. On that day they fasted, and there they confessed, “We have sinned against the Lord.” And Samuel judgeda the Israelites at Mizpah.
7When the Philistines heard that the Israelites had gathered at Mizpah, their rulers marched up toward Israel. And when the Israelites learned of this, they feared the Philistines 8and said to Samuel, “Do not stop crying out to the Lord our God for us, that He may save us from the hand of the Philistines.”
9Then Samuel took a suckling lamb and offered it as a whole burnt offering to the Lord. He cried out to the Lord on behalf of Israel, and the Lord answered him. 10As the Philistines drew near to fight against Israel, Samuel was sacrificing the burnt offering. But that day the Lord thundered loudly against the Philistines and threw them into such confusion that they fled before Israel.
New King James Bible
What am I saying then? That an idol is anything, or what is offered to idols is anything? 20Rather, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice they sacrifice to demons and not to God, and I do not want you to have fellowship with demons.
1 Corinthians 10: 19-20
