Putting yourself out there is so tough, that's why I think it's important we all respect and encourage one another here. It's pretty brave to post some of the things we do. I'm thinking especially of some of the younger poets who are new. I hate when I see someone squash their confidence right out of the gate.

You can always find something nice to say.
Doesn't mean you can't also be nurturing.
It's like parenting. You build up their confidence first then guide them towards trying a different approach or thinking how else they can approach something. It's a mom thing I guess. It's effortless to be nice. You said it best.

This could be an anthem for those whose confidence is not flying at full mast. Takes courage to act confident when you don't feel it, but a smile should be maneagable regardless. Meaningful write DCM.
