"Reminders"

"Reminders"

A Poem by Valentine

  "Reminders"
Love does not go away,
It meanders for many a day.
Staying to torment a soul...
A reminder...two halves are not whole.

Love stays...inside of the heart,
Reluctant... to just depart.
It tries its best to hang on;
Although... the soul has gone.

Love does not quickly walk away,
It slowly dies...becoming yesterday.

My pleasure Valentine and you are welcome.
so very true Valentine. Those feelings do not just end when the person is gone...they linger and hang on..i do not think they completely go either i think we just get better at coping with them eventually being able to see and move past the pain!
This write was so beautiful and yet so sad,,,you could feel the pain laced throughout!

Thank you for your kind words. Kathie
A brilliant poem Kathie and expresses very well my experience of love and how hard it can be to leave it behind, move on they say but they probably have never tried to, a haunting work that draws melancholy from its roots until love dies to be just yesterday :)

mmm I'm going to disagree for the first time and I've read quite a few of your poems, Kathie.
to me this feels like the speaker is trying their best to forget the love of someone who broke up with them.
when we have lost a loved one, we never want that love to "depart".
am I making sense?
but no matter, the poem is beautiful and bears your unique print.

Your words spoke to me Kathy - how true - love - reluctant to depart, hangs on fading slowly...becoming yesterday. I can feel the sadness in your words - you have touched my heart.

Thank you Julie. KATHIE
Such a powerful way of capturing the disintegration. Some half-witted people still think that love can be killed within a day by jabbing that knife the cost of which is even less than some 20 bucks.
I love this thing. Short, sweet and hard-hitting.

Ah yes, The Soul takes flight, The Love that remains becomes yesterday.
Kathy, you are a very methodical thinker, I used to be able to do that.
