"Blind"

"Blind"

A Poem by Valentine

             "Blind"
Seeing the forest, but not the trees,
A hornet's nest, but not the bees.
Looking at...a broad scenic view;
But, still blind...to all around you.

Eyes wide open...stumbling around blind,
Mean to your family...to strangers...kind.
Wishing for...the American Dream...
Too lazy to work...and so you scheme.

You hurt others, then shut out their pain;
Apply yourself...but only when you can gain.
Curse the daily news...and your God;
Serve yourself, and upon God...you trod.

You walk around blind, wishing for gain;
Shove aside, the ill... and the maimed.
You look blankly at life, blind to the view;
Of beauty and pain, on the earth around you.

You look at the forest, never seeing a tree;
Get down in the dumps, then ask God..."Why me?"

Author's Note

Valentine
I have distant family members that have money for their cigarettes, cell phones , and the casinos...but not for food for their kids, the young ones come daily to ask for food.
Oh, and the mother weighs over 300 pounds, where does she get her food?

This is why I hate the Politics of legal gambling houses in our towns and cities they were stuck at bingo's and the numbers before the state legalized gambling in my state I won't step one foot in a casino Then can tax us better than that.

A sad write over looking after number one greedily, selfishly or sharing with loved ones the family.

I love this. I can tell in was written out of deep emotion. You do have a point. It's sad that people can be like that.
God is using you in the kids lives.
Be bless.

This is a raw write you can feel your anger, annoyance laced through your words. Maybe more going on that meets the eye here. XX

Just tired of seeing child abuse in the papers etc. Kathie
its a sad state of affairs when people are so self absorbed that they even exclude their family from their little lives, you have brought the issue clearly into focus and hit the target right between the eyes, today we see such people all around us everywhere, well said Kathie, let the world take notice their time is short, change now!

the little ones are always the prime victims. not fair.
I think we all know our fair share of these types. Gotta smoke while there is no insurance on the car. Gotta smoke while the pump to the well needs replacement and in the meantime they'll borrow gallons of water everyday for every use imaginable. Good poem of awareness Kathy.

well i don`t either
wow - agressive - and here I was thinking we should learn to accept people for who they are, not their size, not their blindness, not thier lack of awareness, we cannot all be on the same level, we cannot all be the same. All of us have been conditioned in one way or another and it is not for any of us to point the finger - Instead I prefer to look beyond and see why people are the people they are - without judgement

lots of venom here - must be a lot of history too XXX

Powerful truth in the poetry dear Valentine.
"You look blankly at life, blind to the view;
Of beauty and pain, on the earth around you"
It is sad when we cannot see the beauty of life, the forest and lost hope. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.
