Is Santa Real?

Is Santa Real?

A Poem by Valentine

                Is Santa Real?

Do you believe in Santa Claus or little elves?

A sleigh and reindeer, or cookies children left  themselves?

Christmas treess or stockings, filled to the top;

Or snowy cold Decembers, toys left at every stop?

Does he from the North Pole, really come down;

Racing across the earth from town to town?

Leaving gifts for good little girls and boys...

Anxious for morning, just to open their toys.

Do you believe in the real Christmas joy,

that seems to fill the heart of each girl and boy?

Or the m that comes in the twitch of his nose,

As up, up, up each houses chimney... he goes.

Or are you one of those like old Scrooge,

Who can only think...of Christmas blues?

Too crabby to see the joy in a child's face,

As traditions and memories are deeply placed.

Into a child's sweet heart and mind...

To be remembered for a long, long time.

Look out at all the others...not deep within...

Joy is the sights and smells not presents given.

Just ask any child, "Does Santa really come?'"

And there answer might help...

"Bah Humbug" to run.

Exactly...in my lifetime I think I had more than one Santa. [smiling] Kathie
I know I write some scurrilous verses about Santa, but I have to confess that I enjoy creating the "stage settings" for my grandchildren with footprints in talc,half eaten carrots,etc. and and even getting a letter from him on one of MY parcels.
This makes me wonder - do we miss our childhood beliefs or do we never sub consciously grow up.
Thanks for your poem that has set me pondering about the benevolent "ghost" of Christmas Past.
