"Life's Castaways"

"Life's Castaways"

A Poem by Valentine

            "Life's Castaways"

She had learned

the cost of his pain

and rejection...

so long ago.

But it would return

and enter her world,

as cold as

winter's new falling snow.

Soon fresh hurt would come,

as she struggled to be...

a weak floundering ship upon...

a stormy wind tossed sea.

For pain and loss linger inside,

and rejection lies in the heart.

As the mind asks "why can't life's

castaways...have a new start?"

indeed why do life's castaway's never seem to get a break but maybe they have to learn and grow, when this does not happen first time maybe a second time comes around so they get another chance to take the lesson in, i suppose its a possibility, your poem throws up many possibilities thank you Kathie :)

Hey Valentine, take it easy. If you keep grieving, you'll melt your heart in sorrow, and become bitter. You have to let go, eventually. Good days will come.

Life is full of acceptances and rejections. How we deal with either can make a big difference. Excellent...:).........

No, I did not see the film. It was more about a close family member. Kathie
Powerful poetry and I like the poetry that ends with a question.

The above line is the question most of us ask. Thank you dear friend for sharing the excellent poetry.

You are welcome Kathie.
I like the way you set up the rhyme scheme in this piece, and the rhymes themselves dont feel forced. Theres a lot of meaning behind this piece. I interpreted it as being about somebody with a broken heart trying to move on after being rejected. Many people can relate to this. Once again, you have done spectacularly. :)

it seems like the captain is not so sure whether to stay or abandon ship. I loved your use of the tossing sea to portray the feelings inside of her heart.

This is more a story writen in verse style. I see little rhyming but the story of a broken heart is very strong. I love the images. You should take a look at "Barritt Brown" she is a master at this. I love the flow and the pace. Well done!

This is a sad piece and it takes time to heal from some old wounds. Beautiful but sad.
