"Homeless Heart"

"Homeless Heart"

A Poem by Valentine

    " Homeless Heart"

Must I forever be a beggar,

Locked out in the cold.

Never knowing love or warmth,

Or...a helping hand to hold.

Must I forever walk these streets,

In the darkness of the night.

Feeling only safe...to lie down

Within the early morning's light.

I too...was formed by God, and

as a child,

Wasn't I born...just like you?

Yet I stroll these lonely streets,

Fear in my heart...aghast at all I do.

When you look inside my eyes;

Your reflection do you see?

Are you afraid down deep inside,

You could turn out...just like me?

There are many of us out here,

We are strangers, in the night.

Many of us once...were just like you,

Does that cause your look of fright?

Today...I am a beggar,

I may need a helping hand;

Just do not judge me,

Accept me as I am.

a great eye opener kathie,but most of these people have real mental issues
it`s hard to help a lot of them.

I find this to be a very incite-full piece of writing, not just poetry. This is one fine bit of writing here Ms. Kathie but, you do not need me to tell you that. You are a fine writer! I find this piece exceptional.

You are no slouch!
"What happens to others may happen to you one day" this is taught to us by our elders. In my country, there are no homeless people, if a person becomes in need, his closest relative must provide him with necessary help, and if he can't help on his own, close relatives and far relatives must join together to help him/her to overcome the crisis he/she is in. If no help came to that helpless person, the community will be ashamed of that family. As you may know Saudi is a tribal community, we know the names of our ancestors till the first forefather who join us all and we are proud of that, so we become ashamed of not being helpful to our own, that played a big role in uniting us becoming one.

Thank you for sharing this piece which shows that you are a person of a good heart.

I believe that with all of my heart.
Beautifully written work on a tough topic, very real in your word choice and I was totally involved in the reading from start to finish. These lines grabbed me because I have always thought that each one of us could end up in this grim situation at the blink of an eye, so we must be thankful for the things and people we do have and those that have not, do not just "love" in word only, but also in action:

When you look inside my eyes;

Your reflection do you see?

Are you afraid down deep inside,

You could turn out...just like me?

Thank you so much for sharing this...

I really like this poem Valentine."When you look inside my eyes; Your reflection do you see?" We are all God's children, blessed human beings. Give a helping hand to those in need. Well written!
