A Silent Guardian

"Princess keep running if we stop now they will catch up to us!" My lungs were burning and I felt like they were going to shrivel up. We've been running for some time now because we were pursed by some strange men. I was in Rangan Kingdom attending the Successors meeting held annually after the age of 16 when some strange men started following Kain and I. "Down this way I know a place where we can hide for the time being!" We run into a small alley way and burst into the front door of a shop. Kain defensively covered my body with his own and intensely stared at the door. "Where did they go D****t!? If we return to Prince Isidro without the Princess he will have us slaughtered and fed to dogs! Spread out and search the area for them quickly before they get away!" "Yes Sir!"
We hear many feet scrambling outside and the voices grow far away.
"Whats with all the racket! How is a blacksmith supposed to do his job!" I hear a strong deep voice yell.A tall muscular man with golden eyes and white hair emerges from behind a curtain. Kain calms down and begins to talk to the man. "Hello Seibel it has been a while hasn't it?" The mans eyes widen and he replies, "Kain...My good friend what brings you here?" He sounded more displeased than surprised to see Kain and I in his shop. "I would like you to meet Seibel Speirs he is a good friend of mine." Kain seems to know this man so I will trust his judgement for now. "It is a pleasure to meet you Mr.Speirs" "Kain...explain."he mutters. "We were chased here by a group of kidnappers sent by the Fire Kingdom." "The girl?" "Princess of the Ice Kingdom." "I see...so she is the Princess." He looks me up and down,"Stay as long as you need." He begins to walk back behind the curtain but Kain stops him,"Wait! May i leave the Princess here with you for a while?" "Fine do as you please." "Seibel you do not understand! I need you to keep watch over the Princess while I return to the Palace to explain to Her highness what has occured!" "As long as she listens to me and stays close to me she can stay I will watch over her for you." As soon as i try to begin my protest Kain starts,"I need you stay here, it is too dangerous for you to travel with me, Please understand." I nod my head in approval. "Do not worry he will protect you." He finished his sentence and darts out of the small shop and the sound of his footsteps disappear. I am left in awkward silence with the man called Seibel.
"Come to the back with me." Seibel moves behind the curtain and i hesitantly follow. When i moved behind the curtains i was awe struck. There were many swords and spears stacked and tied all along the room. In addition there were many tools and a large fire place. "Be careful, you can look around if you want."Seibel begins pounding his hammer against a piece of scorching hot metal. I begin to wander around the room when a certain spear catches my eye. It was absolutely beautiful. "You have a good eye, do you know anything about weapons?" "Yes i do, i am also very proficient in using spears." "Kain taught you?" "Yes he did." ".......Feel free to take that one if you want." He immediately returns to his work. He seems very introverted, i wonder why. I take the spear and hold it to examine it more closely. Sharp blades, very intricate designs, I can tell he put his very being into making this spear. I put the spear down and quietly sat down. "I can't work anymore, I've lost all my concentration." Sibel stops his work and puts all of his tools away. " He takes a chair, moves it closer to me and takes a seat. "So, how do you know Kain?" "Met him while delivering weapons to the palace." Another awkward silence, he really must hate talking to people. "Since i dont know much about you, would you mind telling me a bit about yourself?" A long pause,"........ Of course, My name is Seibel Speirs I am 28 years old and run this blacksmith shop and i am a former Knight of this kingdom.....And you Princess?" "My Name is Aria Steinheart i am 20 years old and i am Princess of the Ice Kingdom, and i enjoy sparring with spears. "No wonder you have an eye for weapons."
We had small talk for a couple of hours and Kain returned out of breath and in distress. "The Ice Palace was attacked by the Fire Kingdom!" Seibel's eyes widened and so did mine. "Do not worry Princess, His and Her highness are in a safe location." I sighed in relief, but Kain continued, " It seems tensions were high at the last meeting held in Rangan Kingdom so the Fire Kingdom decided to attack the Palace in frustration." I was very shocked and i began to tremble with not only anger but also with fear. "What has this world come to that fighting over a woman will bring war!! I am sick and tired of all this fighting over me! I am just a normal person with a title!" Kain takes my hands in his own, "Please do not worry all of this will be solved soon. I swear on my life that i will put a stop to this." He sticks out his pinky and i wrap mine around his. "Seibel I will ask you this not only as a friend and Knight but also a man, please take care of the Princess in my absence! I beg of you!" "Kain I swear to you that i will take care of her even if it means i die in exchange" They both exchange fierce glances and Kain turns to me,"Princess please take care of yourself while i am gone, it might take some time but I will return for you." "Please be careful Kain, I will be waiting for you." He turned to leave, looked back at me, smiled and left. That was the last time I saw Kain before something even bigger happened in later months to come.
