A million Syllables

A million Syllables

A Poem by Verin
"

Two-minute poetry

"

Words make all the difference

They are used to define who and what we are

The words we want to hear drive us

We’re propelled forward

Seeking their resonance within our ears

The sentences and exclamations we don’t want

They can break us, hurt us.

An entire lifetime’s work

dismantled by a few quick bursts of sound

The sentences we hear and didn’t know we needed

They lift us, bring us hope

We can see ourselves renewed.

We depend on language to communicate

To feel something. Anything.

To extend a feeling.

Words are powerful

But that power is determined by the listener

It is their interpretation

Of your words or mine that matters.
