Missed the Lines

If I fall down

Will you catch me?

If I try to run away

Will you go with me?

 

But it all came down that day

With tears strung across my eyelids

And rain falling down on our heads

I listened as you whispered

I have to let you go

And I don’t see why you’re leaving

 

You were the only one

Who helped me through the days

You held my hand when I needed it

Made me smile everyday

But now you’ve gone and forsaken it

 

Maybe there were signs

That I couldn’t read

Maybe there were lines

That I didn’t see between

 

Whatever it was I hope you’re happy

But at least I know

The answers to my questions

 

If I fall now

I guess you’ll let me

And if I ran away

Then I’d be on my own

 

And all alone

 

But that’s all we can ever hope to be

Cause there’s no such thing as you and me
