Candle

Candle

A Poem by Vermuth

A candle with a blindingly bright flame
Like I've never seen before
When I look at it I'm happy
Its heat warms me to the core
I try to touch It, I get singed
To try again... I'd be unhinged
But as the flame flickers and struggles
I scramble to sustain it
With hands cupped all around it
Almost smothering what's left
Praying that I'll get to see it again
To feel its heat and warmth
And deep down longing to get burnt
