Alone

Alone

A Poem by Vicki T.

Written in 2012, knee deep in motherhood of three teenage boys and teaching

Alone
People
in my life
come in
and stay

I welcome
the visit
but long for solitude
(which I never truly get)

but create
by building
a wall
and keeping
my distance
in solitude.

Why I find my own company
so appealing
is beyond me
but I long for peace
and reflection.

I'll smile
and talk
and enjoy your company
for a time

Because there will come a time when we can't.

Always great to get a visit, but when are you leaving.
Probably sums it up good. Mind you, when you don't see them for a while it goes a different way. Remember me, I brought you into the world.

Emily Dickinson, E. E. Cummings (or ee cummings, if you prefer), Langston Hughes, and Walt Whitman are some of my favorite poets. I love their cutting edge writing. I could throw Maya Angelou in the.. more..
