Little Black Dress

Little Black Dress

A Poem by Victoria Lee~

Getting older is getting old
Sadness and heartbreak
Countless nights alone
Self-imposed exile reaching an end
Starting right now
Getting back in the game
Going out tonight
Celebrating the New Year
Dressed to kill
A head turning, future heartbreaker
In a little black dress
Slit way up the side
Teasing the eye that follows the cut
Sexy well toned legs
Encased in silky thigh high stockings
Strappy black sandals with two inch heels
Blond hair hanging sleekly
Down a smooth bare back
Name sake lingerie keeping a secret
Smiling now as she looks in the mirror
Seeing a reflection of the women she once was
And knowing that is the women she still is
Getting older is really not so bad
Laughing as she walks out the door
Rocking a little black dress
2008 is going to be a good year
I’ll be damned she giggles
Victoria Lee is back
Thanks to the magic
 of a
little black dress

Happy New Year!

Wow looks like this is a popular piece! Look at all your reviews! Well I'm not sure what past reviews have said, but here is mine:

This is relatable to women and men. I can appreciate the self analysis. You showed a critical side of yourself and how that self loathing took over many "lonely nights". It's fun to see how your love for yourself is reignited while looking at your beauty. This is a very common occurance that isn't talked of much. People are afraid to sound cocky and self interested when really it's a virtue to have such attributes. You feel strong and able when you are confident. Nice display of this.

Black always worked well for Stevie Nicks! I'm partial to it myself and especially for rocking on the town New Year's Eve. I wish you all the best to have a beautiful night. Your poem shows the anticipation of going out and the delight a woman gets from dressing up. Let 2007 roll on out and take all life has to offer in 2008! I enjoyed your delightful poem.
