Show Low

Show Low

A Poem by Victoria Lee~
"

Did you ever have any judge you without knowing YOU? Even your friends and family??

"

Were heading for a show down
Time for the low down
I don’t want you coming around
I say hell no

Thought you had me at the get go
When are  you gonna let it go?
Were heading for a showdown
I say hell no

So many things you don’t know
What the hell do you know?
You just think you know so
 I say hell no

Time for the low down
Time to turn it round
Time to let it go
You think you know so
Hell no

Were heading for a show down
Time for the low down
Don’t want you coming around
 I say hell no

Don’t be coming around
Want you to let it go
 I’m moving to Show Low
Apoligize to you ?
I say hell no

Time for the low down
Time to turn it round
Time to let it go
You think you know so

I was going to say even before I read your notes that this one was highly lyrical - with a definite tempo to the words along with a straightforwad message. Lyrics ARE hard to rate, when you write something for a partnership of words and music - some poets snub the effort. I have hundreds of sets of lyrics - I hardly ever post them on the Cafe for that reason. But I love to read lyrics, personally because they are the pure thought - often prior to the music which can color them differently....Well done.

Many years ago I divorced. I still bear scars, not from my ex or even my family, but from friends, friends who thought they knew (they didn't) and who decided gossiping (telling tea party lies in the quaint company of kept upper middle class) was a nice afternoon activity, a sport if you will, where one takes pleasure in slandering another. I no longer have those friends--Hell No!

Love the spirit in this poem and would love to hear it sung by Sugarland. You give good poem Victoria. :-D

I know how that is when people judge you by your looks and if they don't know you. I've had that happen to me before. But this was really good. :]
