Is This How Love Works

Is This How Love Works

A Poem by Samantha ~virginpoet

You bleed
and bleed
and bleed

But still she loves the man
who broke her bones beneath
his fractured touch

Dear love
is this how
love works

I loved you bloody
and our lips are raw
from kissing

You see she gave her whole heart
to a man who made her bleed broken poetry

And

She has not been able
to hold the pen the same way since

You see she's left bleeding
but this is what love is right

He was hands that only knew
how to play with blood
because he liked
making women bleed

You see he found joy
inflicting wounds
that left scars
on souls

But he was blind because
sadness has always been in my chest

Anger under my feet

Loneliness in my throat but pain
pain fills my belly

And love is trapped in me like a hurricane
and my veins are about to burst

But this is what love is right

He was kisses that fell on stuttering lips
and he left before they ever got a taste
of his mournful tongue

But my insides got tangled
in his mouth on the way out

Because he asked me to enter
the chambers of his heart
then makes me crawl

But I can't keep my fingernails
digging into his bones
hoping he will finally
feel my touch

But the possibility of his love
persuades me to linger within midnight's unknown
praying I don't choke on cobweb kisses
as his love entangles my rib-cage

And

I bleed
and bleed
and bleed

Because you cant stitch it up
nothing howls quite like crying
because of a broken heart
over the eternal waves
of a woeful sea of pain

A song of sorrow and tragedy

Blue and broken to the core

Silver to the soul and stitch all you want

Nothing

Nothing

NOTHING

Howls quite like the internal sea
of the soul as its dying

But this is what love is right

Aching heart

Burning throat

Hindered breath

Hoping I don't collapse
but this is how love works

Do you know what its like to cough up gunpowder
then go off by yourself so you can be a bomb

Its destructive
cause you don't want to hurt anyone
even though they hurt you

I use to catch myself
sitting in silence
counting heartbeats

And sometimes

Sometimes I wonder how my heart
can still be heard from inside this coffin

Its morbid but sometimes I think
my hearts been massacred

Cause you painted me red
pushed me into the dark
told me you could only love me like this

Strong hand over my mouth
I became someone unspoken

You knocked the pen from my hand
trying to kill the poetry boiling under my soul

But I still write and every bloody crevice
of my ravenous heart spills into it

I wasn’t afraid this time
to let your hands touch my belly
because they were already
covered in the blood
of a hundred other
un-beautiful things

And

You bleed
and bleed
and bleed

But the darkest
most wounded
parts of ourselves

Hold no compression
to the destructive power
of succumbing to

"This is what love is right"

Dear Samantha,

Ogres deplore the creative ability of the articulate,
and so they plague us with their dull insensitivity!

But the artist will ever thrive in the adversity of haters, so sing on!

Your write is deep and alluring by just the raw soul bearing intensity of it.

I like the allegorical simile of bleeding as it evokes the reality of how deep emotional hurting actually goes.

You have that not so common ability to alliterate the emotional with the literal. A definite skill worthy of exploitation.

Write more like this. Soul bearing is creative sharing in this case!

Thoroughly enjoyed by this one

So glad to find you writing here again... even though you write from a soul that has been torn apart, yet still pulses with feeling and gifts of love. I read the poem from top to bottom... and then wanted to hold you and to let the anger and the pain and the bleeding spill onto me... and then to heal you with kisses and hands that caresss
