The Journey... So far...

The Journey... So far...

A Poem by Vivek
"

It's simple poetry about my (or rather everyone's) journey so far. We all go through almost similar phases and experiences. The only difference being its disposition.

"
Starting from my mother's womb,
My journey will someday end at the inevitable tomb.

From the warmth of my mother to this world so cold,
I grew from being timid to being brave and bold.

Sitting on my father's shoulders, I watched the world through his eyes,
But the picture changed much, as I grew wise.

I grew fighting with my siblings and playing with my friends,
Collecting memories having no ends.

I fumbled, I fell, I rose, I won,
Sometimes crying through pain while sometimes laughing through fun.

I thank the Almighty for this gift called Life,
I'll continue with his blessings, experiencing Life.

Hi Vivek,
I think this is a fine start for your first poem!
I hadn't noticed how close in spelling are the words womb and tomb - I like that you made that connection at the beginning - the beginning and the ending (for the physical part of us, anyway).
As you mentioned in your introductory comment, there is a universality to this, and it's appealing. It's gently covers a range of common experiences - yet it does feel somewhat personal, too. And I especially appreciate the end where you thank the Almighty for the gift of life and that you'll continue with his blessings. By using the term "Almighty" you effectively stayed universal in appeal and didn't step into challenges of divisiveness by using a name for the Divine identified with a particular religion - and I love that universality!
