Math Class Madness

The lines at the end of the poem where it says �its twisted, messed up and the more I think about it its crazy but so what� is from a Cary Underwood song called Twisted so please listen to it :)

Math Cla*s Madness

My 4^th hour math class…

It’s nothing ordinary…trust me

I’m a freshman but only half of the class is

We talk about drugs, sex, and even horse tranquilizers

More than we talk about math

Well mainly they talk and I listen

I don’t stick out much in my opinion

Not like Corbin the druggy class clown

Or Brad who knocked up his 8^th grader ex

Or Emily Mrs. G’s bud

Alcohol and weed

It’s always part of the conversation

Even in our math examples…don’t ask =]

It’s usually so noisy you can’t hear yourself think

But it’s the place where I do most of my thinking

I use to hate this class

But now…I think I love it

Mrs. G…now she hates this class

Or so she says

Corbin or Brad pops a joke about what she calls

“Extracurricular activities” though

And she’s laughing right along with em

Cussing=¢25

Mrs. G would be rich

If she always took it

She lets Emily text in class

Come on!

You know she likes us

At least more than she’s leading on

This class reminds me of where I came from

Abuse and drugs

Maybe that’s why I hated it

But listening to the stories they tell

Though saddened by their choices

We can’t help…but laugh (LOL)

They help me laugh at the very things I fear

Hell I do some of my best writing in this class

5 poems have been born in room B206

And this will be the 6^th

What they face is reality for many

Take 27 students who are facing similar situations

My crazy friend Brittany

Mrs. G

And me the poet

Always trying to make sense of everything

And throw them all together

Interesting to say the least

And yes this poem is me

Still trying to make sense of it all

Out of all the teachers

I think these kids respect Mrs. G the most

Shhh she won’t believe it

It’s almost like the Freedom Writers…

Almost…haha

The bottom line is

This class is the best and the worst

It shows naive kids making stupid adult choices

It shows innocence and the loss of innocence

Trust and distrust

Love and hate

As corny as that sounds

It’s the whole world

In one class

Every good thing, bad thing

It can all be seen here in room B206

Is it a curse or a blessing?

I can no longer be sure

All I know is

It’s twisted, messed up

And the more I think about it

It’s crazy, but so what

It’s my 4^th hour

It’s Math Class Madness!!!

WOW...0.o I loved this so much! I can't even pick a favorite line! It sounds a lot like some of my classes (well, except my teachers aren't exactly like that...some of them are pretty close though.) I would love that class. My crazy class when I was in public school was 6th hour science with Mrs. V. It wasn't hard to get her off subject. It was so fun.

Reminds me of my fourth period math class. Our teacher was trying to explain this ratio concept to the kids who didn't get it. He asked for suggestions from the two kids. One said weed, the other said girls they've slept with. It was amazing. "For every 127 joints, Brendon sleeps with 2 girls..." Insanity. Haha. Great poem. I love the way you write with color and effects. it really adds to the emotion. I'm going to try one like that. ^^ 100/100
