Runaway Love, Runaway

Little Amy is only 10-years-old

Trying to figure out why the world is so cold

Broken home and broken bones

Salty tears and unheard moans

Daddy’s little punching bag

The girl he likes to hit and drag

Mommy’s little drug ticket

If she’s in debt she’s forced to fix it

Not a place she likes to live

Her body and soul they make her give

She has nothing left to show

She packs her bags, it’s time to go…

Runaway love

(runaway)

Runaway love

(runaway, runaway, runaway)

Runaway love

(runaway)

Runaway

Runaway love

(runaway)

Runaway love

(runaway, runaway, runaway)

Runaway love

(run away)

Runaway

Little Amy is only 16-years-old

Trying to figure out why the world is so cold

Escaping home she’s now pimped on the streets

He takes all her money so she barley eats

He has his way with her every night

She has learned not to fight

He threatens her so she will stay

She wants to leave but is there a way?

Raped and beaten black and blue

She knows there is nothing more that he can do

She has nothing left to show

She packs her bags, it’s time to go…

Runaway love

(runaway)

Runaway love

(runaway, runaway, runaway)

Runaway love

(runaway)

Runaway

Runaway love

(runaway)

Runaway love

(runaway, runaway, runaway)

Runaway love

(runaway)

Runaway

Little Amy is only 23-years-old

Trying to figure out why the world is so cold

Escaping the street into a bad marriage

Last week he punched her and she had a miscarriage

She has two sons under age four

Daddy likes to knock them to the floor

Amy has nothing left to show

She packs their bags it’s time to go…

But then little Robby starts to cry

He wants to tell his daddy goodbye

His father hears and he grabs a knife

He runs in the room and stabs his wife

Runaway love

(runaway)

Runaway love

(runaway, runaway, runaway)

Runaway love

(runaway)

Runaway

Runaway love

(runaway)

Runaway love

(runaway, runaway, runaway)

Runaway love

(runaway)

Runaway

Little Andi and Robby are 2 & 3-years-old

Trying to figure out why the world is so cold

Now Amy’s boys are left all alone

Forced to believe hell is a place called home

Mommy went to Heaven daddy went to jail

He says he didn’t do it, will the system fail?

Robby and Andi went to foster care to young to have a choice

They and their mother never once had a voice

They had been stuck for so long in a cold dark place

Never feeling love or the sun on their face

Neither of their parents has anything left to show

So the boys pack their bags, it’s time to go…

Runaway love

(runaway)

Runaway love

(runaway, runaway, runaway)

Runaway love

(runaway)

Runaway

Runaway love

(run away)

Runaway love

(runaway, runaway, runaway)

Runaway love

(runaway)

Runaway

You don’t have to run anymore Amy. You’re safe now…

INTENSE! I wanted to read more. This was sooo sad. It actually reminded me of the song Conrete Angel by Martina McBride. Its country. Don't know if you listen to that but it sort of has the same story line. This poem was REALLY good! Very well written too. GREAT piece! :)

Amazing, I love it, I had a the beat of the song in my head and I though like, wow this could even be Runaway Love Part 2. I love how the story carries on and I love how the imagery shows all the things that some people go through in life. This is really touching. Great Job :)

Wow a brutal look at the harshness of life and how it seems certain people always get the short end of good... impressive writing.
