![]() FINITEA Poem by VolThe astronomy people think they have made a new discovery; seems the universe is expanding much faster than expected I know why. We’re getting old, And like the poet said,
“I wasted time, and now doth time waste me; for now hath time made me his numbering clock; My thoughts are minutes.”*
I’ve paid attention, I understand that time and space and gravity are chained together like slaves at the neck and between them define the nature of ordinary men who wander sightless and speak of ponderous things as though it is possible to understand an expanding universe, much less the life-force of even this one blade of grass sticking through the clay on my feet, or the exquisite little mantis on the bright butterfly bush by the pond losing his triangle head in a search he does not care is universal. But like us, he sees for just one second the universe explode as His last act but not his least.
