WWCS (What would Camus say)

WWCS (What would Camus say)

A Poem by Vol

In my home town, there was an alley.

It led to the dark inner court of a city

block, where we liked to get stoned

and visit its secret recesses where the

cops couldn’t see. We were a crowd of

hippy nerds spooked by its only bit of

graffiti…

WHY?”

scrawled in two foot letters beside a

long iron fire escape. We climbed

those stairs to look through a small

window in the door. There were old

boxes and chairs tumbled around,

then up and across to the other wall.

MOVEMENT! EYES!

Someone staring back!

It felt like Friday the 13th

on Elm Street!

But, ahhh…

A mirror!

Why?

Hahahahahaha!

Indeed! So we laughed and fired up

one for the road. I’ve never figured it

out, but something about the way that

slimy fog clamped down on us,

stifled the mood as we drove

home for the last time in the

summer of love.

I don't know about what Camus would have said, but I'd have been wishing I had a neon graffiti marker pen and wrote underneath it in smaller lettering "why not?"
Isntit strange looking back on all those spooky lanes and hideouts we used to frequent that now we would go in the opposite direction from?
There's being curious and then there's just having a deathwish! 😃

Blessed are the knees that can bend because running for it is still an option to them? This poem gave me a Ginsberg vibe. Did you go to Woodstock in New York by any chance? Funny write.

Always a pleasure Vol. What an interesting story. And a farewell song to the summer of love. Wouldn’t it be great in these times of turmoil if another summer of love were born?
