Happy Birthday To Me

Happy Birthday To Me

A Poem by Victor Warui
"

Its only fair to salute the lady who brought me to life.

"
Today 24yrs ago a lady was heavily pregnant
Waiting hours in severe labour pains that instant
With thousands of expectations on the offspring
Great was the pain but the joy was overwhelming
Few minutes past midnight an infant saw light
A sharp thrilling shriek tears through the night
Through tears, sweat and blood, she breathed
A newbie was born, a boy! They proclaimed.
She looked at the crying fragile little thing
And smiled. She called him Victor while smiling.....

24 years are now gone, he's now grown adult
Did he live to the expectations thought?
Or did he drain all wishes bestowed
Upon him long while he suckled?
Nah! Though it's hard to live up to that
Watch the space, it begins with a pat
Then will not, ever let the awesome lady
Down even during the worst of the day.

The efforts not to flash me in a toilet
Or drown me in a river or inlet
To repay her is to live
Up to her believe.
