Vulnerability

Vulnerability

A Poem by Wallflower

Distance yourself,
don’t give too much.
Show only your blossoming petals.
My rose has no thorns, I say -
knowing fine well that you’ve already been pricked.

Don’t show too much,
Fragility is frangible,
and you know that yours is like glass.
The more you give the more you break,
the more your chalice cracks.

Don’t give too much,
Don’t show too much.
Don’t say too much.

And swear through your bleeding mouth that your rose has no thorns,
and that your chalice is safe to drink from.

I thought the title was like a crown for this poem which was written so well like you were really talking to me. I also like your choice of words, like in the chalice. tyfs
