Sea of heartbreak

Sea of heartbreak

A Poem by Wall Hermitt

Oh Love,
Is it such a botheration to you
That I sit in seclusion?
And are you harrowed, Love,
By my unwavering endeavour to maintain distance?
Are you pestered by my
Bitterness at your madness,
Or rather too proud to have one
Who discords all which you denote?
Do you take pride in knowing
That I will forever relapse
And ingest your poison?
I have wandered the earth, in misery,
With pain of rejection.

And Love,
Am I destined to be imprisoned
With the heaviest labour of
Emotional dealing?
Was I cursed, Love, into a time loop
Of torturous and unrelenting non-acceptance?
Will I ever be extricated from your
Sea of heartbreak,
And will I ever witness the bright
Rays of the lighthouse at shore?
I have wandered the earth, in misery,
With pain of rejection.

Congratulations! This free verse poem was a sure thing to win the love poem contest. I was intrigued how you personified the mood of love whereby you express how it rakes you over the hot coals of rejection. It’s much easier to love than to expect love from others. Some people are so needy for love that they invent imaginary mythological gods , goddesses, and sprites to fill in for what would be otherwise absent. The bonding instinct is strong within the human species because it’s an evolved survival trait.

Oh my god! This is beyond amazing! I'm just, I'm speechless!
"Do you take pride in knowing
That I will forever relapse
And ingest your poison?" I can't get over the perfection of that part.
Such beautiful emotion scripted so musically!

Sounds very exciting. If your novel is anything like your poetry it must be outstanding.
