One Special Part

One Special Part

A Poem by Daniel Duffy

All the poems on this site
And rarely a happy note.
Sometimes it's all the same
And my mind wants to explode.

The boredom of scrolling,
Trying to find the perfect text.
The grass is greener on the other side,
And the next, and the next.
And so I am not satisfied.

But sometimes there is that one poem
That makes me forget all of thaot,
That makes me eager to do it all again
At the drop of a hat.

And I try to make those poems
Writing metaphors just for you
Until I realised
That this poem was a metaphor too.
For life.

Because even though life, like poetry,
Can seem mostly drab
And lacking of smiles,
Sticking with it, there is always that
One special part
That makes the wait worthwhile.
