i want a crush on someone that sure as f**k isn’t you

A Poem by Wasteofpaint666

Starting over. Say it.
No! Say it like you mean it!
I can tell when you are lying. You laugh to punctuate your sentences,
but not the good laugh. It’s a laugh you force,
a laugh that twists your stomach. So just say it.
You are starting over.
You are waking up polished. New. You make your bed in the mornings and fluff the pillows.
You remember to comb your hair and before bed, you wash your face.
Your fridge isn’t consumed by boxes of wine and bottles of liquor.
Your bones don’t ache.
Your body is not bruised.
You will not let the bad boys touch you in places where angels once kissed you.
You will not let the bad boys bite you in places where psalms were once born.
You are a galaxy; you hold stardust in your palms. You were born for this.
You were born in your own hands.
The first word you ever spoke was your own name.
The bad boys can not break a girl crafted from steel and i have seen the spark behind your eyes.
I know you like the back of my hand.
You are starting over. You are greeting the day with sunlight on your cheeks.
They won’t catch you here now that you are not running; you’re flying.
Like fireworks over crooked boardwalks.
You are starting over.
Say it.
Slower this time. I know you mean it.
You are starting over.
You are starting over.
