Oh Brother

Oh Brother

A Poem by WatchMeRise

Your absence has taught me how to stand by myself,
Cast into this world without a helping hand,
I've lived a life that I never planned.

I've been lost for years and I'm finally getting back on track.
I'm working towards a life with no knives in my back.
Cutting ties feels like breathing in a world I face alone,
Help is rare from my friends,  I will take every step on my own.
I'll f*****g take every step on my own.
I'll f*****g push them out into the cold.

I stand by myself and I will until you return.
Forever on guard to a world that I can't trust,
Always polishing these words so they will never rust.
My faith in you will never falter.
My trust in you will never fail.
Forget the times of disappointment,
I need you now,
I need you more than ever.

I'm drowning and I can't find the surface.
Days roll by and they're tossed into the furnace.
I keep close and hope for heat.
I'm left alone in the cold and I'm collapsing in the street.
Winter's cold drowned out by the warmth that surrounds you.
I'll find some hope in these desolate lands when you're around.
Give me the hope and I'll learn to live on my own.
Give me the hope.
Give me the hope.
Give me a reason to live again.
