Humanity Surrenders

Humanity Surrenders

A Poem by Abigail Lee

There shutters the darkened breath of life’s wicked mistress.

Her whip is steel and her will to break all is, in itself, completely unbreakable.

She walks against the rained blood of the innocent and

Only smiles as the copper drops hit her face.

The woman is cold, yet nothing can truly be as cold as the humanity that she maims.

That is why she smiles.

Because she knows that, no matter how horrid she becomes,

She will always be reassured that there is always something worse.

Because humans will always reign supreme.

And humans are the worst.

The most horrifying.

And the lost.
