My Heroine

My Heroine

Electro shields and racing cars

Kung fu flips and tiger snarls

All contrasting Barbie dolls

Blacks and greens and reds and blues

All outshining pinkish hues

Wars were not for girls to fight

That I thought as my wings took flight

Towards spider webs and plasma beams

Guns and swords and skeletal fiends

Until one plain day I met this sight

Of her sole fists clashing through the night

I saw imps and ghouls and slimy beasts

Scattered in clever shadows all about

North and South and West and East

Strength and speed

That buckled my knees

Almost as crazy as

Hercules

Yet just as humble

And twice as brave

Poor souls behind bars

Waiting to be saved

She rarely missed or lost a life

'Cause God had given her plenty

I'd watch her swing and sway and slide

And shoot a dozen in a row- or maybe twenty-

I'd watch her conquer miles

Her sword erect in one hand

She'd turn to me and smile

Feet sternly fixed in the sand

She was my heroine and she was the one

Who had beat the legendary score

Of five-hundred thousand and thirty-one

I like this. Great sense of rhythm and the perspective of a hero through the eyes of a child rings true.

Great job! I remeber having the same point- of - view when I was younger- yes a boy view, since I have a twin brother who I always hanged out with.

This was unadulterated fun! And very topical with the gaming scene. Great stuff.

Out of everything I have read so far on this site your writing never fails to have a very magical feel to it. I absolutely love the way your words cast images in my mind while I succumb to this deep sense of being in a separate world. Everything you write tends to take me away and I am always saddened when it is time to return to reality, this poem having the same effect. Once again another mesmerizing read, Wella.

this was rather different, I've read most poems and most of them are based from Christmas and all..some of them depressing (well this one has some of that but in a vary way) :P...anyway, I enjoyed it...
