The Victim of the Page

The Victim of the Page

A Poem by Alex

In every situation there are the victims,

and I never minded being this,

it made for better imagination,

better stories,

a stronger mind-set

but it is all dependant on what you're a victim of,

I can handle the candlestick people

who melt you down like slow burning wax,

I can handle gum wrapper boys

who toss you away when you're no longer unchewed

but I cant tolerate the bitterness of this

the soul I implanted into my writing

the timeless hours, thought, courage

I put my history on the eyes of the reader

and trusted the pages with the confidence I didn't have

and from that page I grew

I grew in pride

I grew in love for myself I never tasted before

I grew into worship of the ability of my pen

but it cost my embedded soul

for your two minute copy and paste.

A theft of soul huh? Quite the invasion of privacy even if that privacy was intended to be enjoyed by others......Sad

I'm glad you liked it, thanks for the kind review Jesse!
The bubonic plage strikes again. F**k 'em. Glad you got this out of your system. Don't fall into the trap of rallying against it becoming your only work. Write at a pace so delirious you'll wear the lazy f***s out.

Amen to that s**t! My rant is truly over- thanks for the advice, much appreciated!
I'm sorry you had to go through that! I hope everything was resolved. I'm glad you let your feelings out in the form of this poem, though. It is a fabulous write.

Thanks Emily!
Uncreative and lazy posers will always lurk around hoping to find a piece they can pass off as their own. Unfortunately we live with the technology to make such instances easier therefore leaving more victims in plagiarism's wake. However, take some comfort in knowing that while the plagiarist reaps the initial benefits of another's work, he/she will always be looking over a shoulder while you continue to create creatively. A nice write.

I totally agree, thank you for your thoughts!
the "two minute copy and paste"

great line...and the second stanza's imagery really resonates with me.

yes, this is going to happen to us at times...and you are a writer with such creative phrasing, others will tend to be jealous and want to steal....but just keep this in mind---as much as it is a sad and angry thing to deal with being plagiarized....your heart and soul know who actually wrote what was written---and you can rest your head on the pillow and sleep at night, knowing it was all yours.
the other person can't really do that---he or she stole the confidence and pride and never had the real ability.
