Purgatory's Penance

Purgatory's Penance

A Poem by N E. Chase

Do you hear the songbird mourning?
Tribute to the bloodied sky
Do you see the monarch falling
Wilted sunset, blinded eyes

Can you feel the cool breeze warming?
burning putrid through your hair
Do the voices seem alarming?
Tortured souls in deaths despair

Are your demons re-awaking?
Raping truth with crazed desire
Can you hear the death gate creaking?
Lay upon Perdition's pyre

Is the fire overwhelming?
Licking through your innocence
Can you feel your soul Dissolving?
Purgatory's last penance
