Slave

Slave

A Poem by N E. Chase

So far gone from yesterday
But still I'm here
The motions play
The moments lost in memory
Pleading softly
Come find me

I've tried to hide it all away
Stepped ahead to save my grace
Burned my bridges, locked the door
By melted will, I come for more

Living life through picture books
The pages turn but back I look
Going through the dance again
A slave to my what could've been
