Borrowed Words

Borrowed Words

A Poem by Chinedu Ubah

We are all waiting
Waiting for the day; HE, HIMSELF SHALL WIPE OUR TEARS AWAY
TO TEACH US HOW TO OUTGROW OUR MADNESS
But the only time we are free from THE PLAGUE if madness
Is the day that death shows it ugly head
We need not an INTERPRETER OF MALADIES
To tell us what malady we suffer
Sin is the UNBEARABLE LIGHTNESS OF BEING
That we cannot do withal
But when the heart refuses to beat
We might end up either in a BRAVE NEW WORLD
Or ON THE ROAD to a place
But fear not of death
THE GOD OF SMALL THINGS will take care of you
AS YOU LAY DYING
FROM HERE TO ETERNITY
