It Was Something Else

It Was Something Else

A Poem by Wild Willow Blue
"

Regret can be overwhelming

"
I just stood there
The smoke curling upwards
As I think hopelessly of you
How can I do this without you
What have I done
This feeling shouldn't be
I shouldn't have these thoughts of you
I'm watching the smoke and it's heavy now
Burning my eyes but I keep lighting it
I keep lighting it because it reminds me of you
Curling up and away
Lingering a little just for a tease
And suddenly it can't go fast enough
I just stood there
Only for awhile
To watch you burn

It is difficult letting go of someone that brings comfort to your soul. The regret is palpable and emotion so raw that it lingers for a very long time. To burn those bridges down and let go of the last vestiges of that love is true heartbreak. Your nicely written poem speaks to that. Thank you for sharing your art with us.
