Walk In The Light

Walk In The Light

A Poem by Wild Spirit

You walk in the light

To stay out of the dark

Because you fear

What is there

But if you stay in the light

You can’t see the stars

You can’t see

How beautiful they are

But you are afraid

Afraid of what?

The things that lurk

In the dark?

Their blood is red

Just like yours

Yet you fear them

You walk in the light

Because it is safe there

You think it is safe

You were told it is safe

Is it really?

Are you really safe

In the light?

In your heaven?

Everything is perfect there

Too perfect?

Maybe so

Because if you walk in the light

You can’t see the stars

You can’t see the true beauty

Of the things that lurk

In the dark

The things that live

In the dark

The things that survive there

In the place that you cannot

Because you are afraid

Afraid

Of what?

Why do you fear the dark?

It has never hurt you

It does not want to hurt you

Yet you fear it

You fear what it will show you

You fear change

So you walk in the light

The dark is bad

That is what you think

But is it really?

Or is the light

Worse than the dark?

You may never know

Unless you try it

Take a step

Into the dark

Look at the stars

Look at those who survive there

Look around you

Never again

Will you

Walk in the light
