Three Ringed Circus

Three Ringed Circus

A Poem by Will

Step right up and see the show!
Three ringed circus on display!
Come one, come all, and listen close
to what I have to say.

This circus is quite a loud one,
a din of bloody noise.
Complex and crazy, yes it is,
come see it, girls and boys!

Ring one contains a girl of grace
hiding beneath a grin.
To veil such wonders behind jokes
is really quite a sin.

The second ring holds a hidden gem;
a diamond in the rough.
A beauty of a desert jewel
but breaking through is tough.

The final ring is slightly odd,
as no one stands within.
It's full of memories of her,
the one who caused this din.

The utter chaos and calamity of a circus, the smell of burnt popcorn, sawdust and animal dung. Fond memories- I liked the use of 'veil' is procures a visual image of mystique and depth. Fantastic!

Thanks, Lou.
Excellent metaphor, presented very well in this piece, Will. Your descriptions of such dynamics is spot on, as are the rhyme and flow of this poem. Well done!

Thanks, Rita. Appreciated as always.
Both clever and correct. As I recall, youthful dealings with the opposite sex were indeed very much like a circus, with every act different from the last. Excellent rhyme and 8-6 meter.
(The 10-syllable ninth line doesn't quite fit. Perhaps "Ring one displays a girl of grace." Or "contains" since you used "display" in your second line. Please forgive my presumptuousness at offering suggestions.)
I continue to marvel at such mature talent in one your age. Richard
