Love song

Love song

A Poem by William Coad
"

This is something I wrote for another something.

"

I tried to write a love song,

But you were the only word,

And I tried to write a fun song,

But I guess no one heard.

I suppose I’m meant to say,

That you’re pretty or something like that,

Oh, but you’re so much more,

So much more,

You go beyond that.

And I know you and I,

Just won’t click,

And I know,

Whatever I say doesn’t stick

I’m just sad,

Seeing you empty,

When I could fill you.

But it really doesn’t matter,

What I think or feel,

And it doesn’t matter we’re apart,

In your eyes I see all that’s real,

And it’s sad to be alone,

It’s bad to be alone.

I guess I’ve rambled on enough,

Ironic, thinking about it,

I can say all this to a room filled with strangers,

But I can’t say it to you,

I can’t mess up your hair,

And I can’t kiss your cheek,

I can’t be there when things are wrong,

I can’t even speak.

So that’s it,

I’m done,

Enjoy your drinks drive your cars,

I just wish you knew,

I would have waited,

If you’d give me something to wait for…
