Inside the Darkness

Inside the Darkness

A Poem by William Coad
"

A horror themed poem

"

Inside of this darkness,

is something so old,

something so very dear,

something so very cold.

Inside of this darkness,

is someone I fear.

Someone I want to love,

As they draw oh so near.

I think of this darkness,

as something I own,

something I can control,

as its chilled to the bone.

But I know this darkness,

isn't mine at all.

It's just where I live now,

and it will let me fall.

It's so close now,

It's so real now,

It's so cold now.

But it won't touch-

I won't let it-

It's so far now,

Not so real now,

It's warmer now.

Just make believe.

I'll make believe

that it's make believe.

Forever in darkness,

was something so old.

And it said very clear,

that I would not grow old.
