What if Wonderland

What if Wonderland

A Poem by William Coad

What if we saw things

like a picture book

all these pictures,

but no frame.

What if we heard things

countless fixtures,

and nothing's

quite the same.

What if Wonderland?

What if places were true.

What if underhand

bargains and deals were through?

The world is a picture book

painted by a man.

He thinks the work is perfect,

but it isn't the best he can.

The beauty is in the eye

of the person turning the pages,

and no one really sees it,

we haven't done so in ages.

What if Wonderland

was just what

we thought our world should be?

What if Wonderland

was just what

our world looks like in fantasy?

The pictures and the paintings

are all so very pretty,

but I can't help but feeling,

that it took someone very witty

To piece together

this tapestry we live in...

and realize this wonderland

we all seem to have been given.
