It just isn't fare

It just isn't fare

A Poem by willweb

I hopped a bus

I paid my fare

Said driver take me

Anywhere

To heavens where

I’d like to go

He said, sit back

I run this show

It started quick

The bus was off

Exhaust fumes spewed

I had to cough

The lights then turned

From green to red

I realized now

That I was dead

He said, next stop

Is yours, go see

This place that you

Just had to be

I said, but wait

I meant with her

He answered brief

Bus driver slur

You didn’t say

You weren’t clear

If you used her

I didn’t hear

But now this bus

Has made its line

Get off old man

You’re out of time

It's like a Dr. Seuss reality check for grown ups. :)
I love it. Such a fun read with a thoughtful undertone.
