Too step

Too step

A Poem by willweb

I jumped on the bandwagon

while they were taking a break

playing nothing -

which has become our song

Eating Apple Jacks and flipping cards,

laughing in three part harmony,

never once noticing

I had taken their stage

So I danced to the silence

in front of a crowd of well wishers

who applauded, having no idea

I can’t dance at all - without you

WOW, splendid metaphor. "Playing nothing which has become our song." That poignant line says so much. When the music stops, where are we without a partner? The stage is empty and so is the heart. Excellent work here. Lydi**

Thank you so very much Lydi for your nice words today.
My dear friend Will...
I'd like to see a little girl in this story, handing the sad man a bouquet of balloons.
I like your poem.

I'll look for it when the band comes back on. I hope so.
I can feel the longing in this sad little gem Will.

Have I told you I think you are brilliant? I do!

You are welcome :)
Such a sad longing through out this piece. Your words pace the floor in a steady slow step. The middle stanza somehow reminds me of the Statler Brother's song, 'Flowers on the Wall'...

Countin' flowers on the wall
That don't bother me at all
Playin' solitaire till dawn with a deck of fifty-one
Smokin' cigarettes and watchin' Captain Kangaroo
Now don't tell me I've nothin' to do

Anyway, This is a strangely sad, but well penned collection of words. Great job!
