Wasted Dreams

Dreams, filtered thoughts of
imagination’s doing

Collecting in the corners of
my “dead to the world” mind

While darkness clings to
every shape and form

Taking from me the light
that is as dim as my sight

Dreams, merely a waste of
these hours I face

With eyes closed, words silenced,
rhythmic breathing

 

For what begins as a dream

always ends up a nightmare

 

When I wake the next day

and find you are still gone
