Special delivery

A Poem by willweb

Without you I am empty,

like an unused envelope

in an over crowded mail room

kicked to the side

by a christmas card

spreading good cheer

Footprints address my face

and postage due receipts

pass me by

in postmarked fashions

seeking a stamp of approval

on this silent night

But I keep reminding myself,

come rain or sleet or dark of night

tomorrow will deliver a new day

when you will return to sender

and fill me with love,

sealing it with a kiss

Always...anytime Will! ;)
Interesting usage of metaphors, Will, especially the first stanza. Now, is this a self-address envelope, you're using or one marked, return to sender. If the latter, my heart goes out, to you. Thanks for sharing this inventive take, on a "return to sender letter" poem.

You are welcome always! :)
Loved the metaphor here, Will. You blow me away each time I read you (which for me, is not often enough and I apologise for that) Truly fantastical!

Thank you so much Julie for these nice words.
Beautiful poem, the personification of an envelope, I liked it. Also 'return to sender' made me think about Elvis, one of my favourite singers. And closing with 'sealing with a kiss,' also a beautiful song, this poem is complete. Well done. :)
